POSITION: Counselor/Advocate – Transitional Shelter
STATUS/HOURS: Part-time, hourly ($13.00/hour) 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Su Casa ~ Ending Domestic Violence is a nonprofit community organization that aims to empower individuals and families to live free from domestic abuse and build partnerships with communities to end domestic violence. For over thirty-five years, Su Casa has been serving the Southeast Los Angeles County area through our 24-hour hotline, Emergency Shelter, Transitional Shelter, Walk-In Center, and Community Education and Awareness Program.
Su Casa has an opening for Counselor/Advocate for the Transitional Shelter. Under the supervision of the Shelter Manager, the position is responsible for (1) assisting in implementation of all aspects of program from intake to exit; (2) providing crisis counseling and case management support to shelter residents; (3) ensuring the safety, security and cleanliness of the shelter facilities; and, (4) maintaining documentation in case files.
MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- One-year experience as a counselor/advocate and/or working with survivors of domestic violence.
- Certification in the 40-hour domestic violence training required by CA.
- Bilingual required: English/Spanish.
